Shashi Kant Giri (He/Him), a highly experienced alumnus from the First Batch (2001-03). Shashi Kant is a multi-sectoral development leader with over 20 years of experience specializing in Social and Environmental Safeguards, Gender, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and Disaster Resilience.

Shashi Kant is a multi-sectoral development leader with over 20 years of experience specializing in Social and Environmental Safeguards, Gender, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and Disaster Resilience.
Shashi Kant Giri is a highly sought-after professional whose expertise lies in integrating social and environmental compliance into large-scale, international projects, particularly those funded by the World Bank and ADB. He has successfully managed funds and led large, multi-skilled teams across numerous states and organizations.
His diverse skills are critical to modern development projects:
Social & Environmental Safeguards: Expertise in preparing and implementing ESMF, ESMP, ESIA, and all safeguard instruments, including Resettlement & Rehabilitation (R&R) Plans, Land Acquisition compensation, and dealing with economic displacement and vulnerable groups.
WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene): Deep experience in the sector, including working with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt. of India, and numerous state departments (J&K, U.P.) and projects like Neer Nirmal Pariyojana (World Bank-funded) and Total Sanitation Campaign (UNICEF-supported).
Gender & Social Development: Leading the preparation and implementation of Gender Action Plans, addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), promoting social mobilization, and ensuring the participation of local communities in development.
Disaster Resilience & Livelihoods: Currently engaged with the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority on the World Bank-funded U-PREPARE project, focusing on disaster preparedness and climate-related risk assessment, alongside promoting various livelihood initiatives.
Techno-Managerial Skills: Skilled in training design and module development, capacity building of PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions), fund raising, budgeting, and liaison with various government departments.

HR Trainer (Social Development), TRACTEBEL Engineering (Current Role): Working on the ADB-funded Water Supply and Sanitation project in Himachal Pradesh, focusing on safeguards and R&R.
